Jesse is an artist originally from the beautiful coastal town of Yeppoon, Queensland, now based in Sydney.
His creative practice spans traditional media, with a particular focus on intricate animal illustrations. His love of the design beauty found in creation is what inspires new work.
Jesse also explores abstract painting & candle making.
Until recently Jesse used the brand name Samuel J Art to advertise his work but now goes by his new signature “Jesse Samuel”

About Jesse Samuel Wood

Jesse uses pencil on paper as the base of the creative works. Once the sketch stage is complete, Jesse uses fine tip pens to add further detail and shading. Depending on the size, this process could take 30+ hours.
Then a few different things may happen, depending on the artwork. Jesse will either add colour traditionally to the original drawing using Copic Markers, Prismacolor Pencils, or he will scan the drawing , and import the digital image into his iPad Pro.

From there, working digitally, Jesse uses an art program called ‘Procreate’ which allows him to colour the work digitally. This process is still done by hand, and can take longer than traditional methods. Working in Procreate allows Jesse to access any colour, and precise blending tools, and to redo any colour choice if required.

”It’s just like colouring with pen on paper, with each stroke and blending done by hand, except instead of on paper, I’m drawing in the iPad! It allows me to get the colours perfect and make any alterations to the colour stage that I want. ” - Jesse

How the work comes to life

I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me and my work over the years. From the very first drawing I sold back in 2014, up until today, the support and appreciation for my work has been overwhelming and it allows me to do what I love.
So thank you each and every one of you! I appreciate every like, every comment, every message, and every time someone takes a moment to browse my website or have a look in person at the markets. It all makes my day.
I love that my art can be appreciated by you and your family, in your home or office, or wherever you may choose to display it. Once again, thank you for your kind support. - Jesse

Thank you!
